History 

  • The perfume was created in 1920 at the request of 14 Sudanese tribal chiefs.
  • The British adventurer Eric Ernest Burgess, a consultant for WJ Bush & Co., created the perfume.
  • The chiefs gave Burgess African herbs and asked him to create an alcohol-free perfume for Muslims.
Uses
  • Bint el Sudan is used for hygiene, medicinal, and cosmetic purposes. 
  • In Northern Nigeria, it is used to soften and moisturize skin. 
  • It is also used as a hair dressing and bath oil. 
  • It is used in weddings and other celebrations. 
Ingredients 

  • Bint el Sudan is made with a fragrance oil diluted with white mineral oil.
  • It is not made with alcohol like most perfumes.
